Privacy Policy

We do not collect, store, or upload your video files. The converter runs as a browser-side WebAssembly application. Your file is read directly by JavaScript in your browser, processed in-memory, and the resulting GIF is created locally for you to download.

We do not require you to create an account or provide any personal information to use this service.

The converter itself sets no cookies and stores nothing about you in your browser. The measurement and advertising services described below do set cookies.

To see how the site is used and where it needs fixing, we use two measurement services. Neither one ever receives your video: the file stays on your device, so it cannot appear in any report or recording.

• Google Analytics 4 — counts page views and a few anonymous events, such as a conversion starting, finishing or failing, and which settings were used. You can opt out with Google's opt-out add-on.
• Microsoft Clarity — records how pages are used (clicks, scrolling, mouse movement and the pages visited) so we can see where the editor confuses people. Text you type into a field is masked by Clarity in every mode and never reaches it. Microsoft processes and stores this data in the United States; see the Microsoft privacy statement. To opt out, block clarity.ms in your browser or content blocker.

If you are in the EEA, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, Microsoft requires a consent signal before Clarity may use cookies. Without that consent, its cookie-based features — such as recognising a returning visit — are disabled.

We rely on the following third parties to run this site:

• Cloudflare — hosts the site and serves files. Cloudflare may log basic request data (IP address, user agent) for security and operational purposes. See Cloudflare's privacy policy.
• Content delivery for the converter — the FFmpeg WebAssembly core is served from our own Cloudflare CDN, falling back to the public jsDelivr or unpkg networks if that is unreachable. Whichever one serves the file may log the request.
• Google AdSense (if ads are displayed) — Google may use cookies to personalize ads. You can opt out of personalized advertising at Google Ad Settings. Read Google's advertising policy for details.

We hold no accounts, and none of your files. The measurement services above hold pseudonymous usage data about visits to this site, which you can stop at any time using the opt-outs listed there. If you are in a jurisdiction with data protection laws (such as GDPR or CCPA) and want that data accessed or deleted, contact us and we will pass the request on.

FreeVideoToGif is a general-audience utility. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided information to us, please contact us so we can remove it.

We may update this policy from time to time. The "last updated" date at the top indicates the most recent revision. Significant changes will be announced on the site.
